Human beings express themselves through movement. Dance is the transformation of normal functions and common expressions into movements for extraordinary purposes.
Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca (BFMA) is a non profit organization founded on the principles of equality and freedom of expression. In BFMA, we are committed to elevating our community through art and education.
BFMA dance company has rapidly become one of the most esteemed Mexican Folk dance companies in the Upper Midwest. Founded in 2009 the Minneapolis-based troupe has been under the artistic leadership of Edgar Galvan, one of its principal dancers.
A highly valued cultural and artistic resource throughout the Minnesota region, the Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca boasts a repertoire that includes traditional folkloric dance pieces as well as indigenous rituals that are fused with elements from contemporary movement.
Our mission is to preserve and maintain the culture of Mexico through the performance of traditional Mexican dance. We also want to increase the knowledge of Mexican culture in the Twin Cities.
The Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca has continually strived to maintain authenticity in choreographies when incorporating any new dance into the Ballet's repertoire.
BFMA is available and most happy to perform at any special event. We provide the music and promise to display an exciting, spectacular and colorful array Costumes and Dances which represent true Mexican Folklore.
